I’ve been working with Rachel Ward-Sale of bookbinders of Lewes, who is a fellow of the Society of Designer Bookbinders, to facilitate their bringing a touring show to the central library in March of next year to coincide with world book day 2011. I’m excited by this, and also by the projects I want to tie in to it. For instance, there will likely be some bookbinding workshops for adults and children, and we’re working now on the possibility of a small book fair (not the Designer Bookbinders, but a simultaneous book-and-zine event, in the cafe area downstairs. We’re also thinking of a small exhibit of our private press materials/artists’ books in the upstairs conference room. I wish I could think of a way to reach out to some of our neighbourhood cultural institutions through this. Is there some way I could involve the Watershed or the Arnolfini in this too?
